I worked last night and around 2:30 AM (in the middle of lunch), the power went out at Wal-Mart. One minute we were watching Judge Joe Brown and the next, it was rather dark. The generator tried to kick on, but it wouldn't. The emergency lights stayed on for a while, but eventually even those went out. We were wandering around Wal-Mart in groups of two or more with flashlights, covering the refrigerated/frozen foods so they didn't spoil. It was off for about 2 1/2 - 3 hours. It was actually kind of fun. There were a couple of people who were easily startled or spooked. It was funny to watch the guys freak them out.

I got a call this morning and the woman on the other end said, rudely, "Who is this?" So I said, "You called me. Who is this?" Then, the CRAZY LADY says, "Well, you obviously have the wrong number!" and the psycho hung up on me. WTF!?!? Hubby told me that I have got to stop answering the phone when I've got the wrong number. When will I learn? lol

I had an ultrasound done on Wednesday at my monthly prenatal appointment. The doc couldn't find the heartbeat with his little microphone thingy, so he said that if we couldn't hear it, we had to see it (yay, ultrasound!). This time, the printer was working, so I was able to get a picture. We still don't know if it's a boy or girl, so for now, I'm calling it 'J' (either Junior or Jaden). Anyway, for those interested there's a picture of Baby J ( behind the cut. )
Squish is still fairly excited. She'll be more excited when she can feel kicks and it gets closer to time of delivery. She wants to start buying clothes (pink, naturally) but I told her that until we know for sure if J is a boy or girl, we're going to wait on clothes because Daddy would have a fit if we dressed his boy in pink!
I still don't know if I'm going to stay working at Wal-Mart on third shift after the baby comes or what. Most likely, I will either quit and find something else (there are two new temp agencies in town now... that makes THREE) or just do the stay at home mom thing again for a while. Oh well, I'll deal with that come August when I get off maternity leave.
I'm still down in my weight. I had started at about 340 lbs. and got down to a low of 289 according to my Mom's scales. Right now, at 14 weeks pregnant, I am still at about 291 (mantaining at 294 according to the dr. office scales). Makes me very happy. Now, if I can just keep my hands out of the leftover Christmas candy, avoid Valentine's and Easter candy, I should be doing fine!
I'm trying to get more iron in my diet without having to resort to a spoonful of blackstrap molasses everyday. That crap is nasty. Hubby is happy to have 'more red meat!' Personally, as much as I like red meat, I can only take so much before I say, 'give me CHICKEN!' lol

Well, I'm moving to third shift. Some people are happy for me, some are pissed, some don't know what to think.
Here's what happened...
The part-time overnight processor for soft lines at the local Wal-Mart (where I work 2nd shift soft lines... apparel) decided she had had enough and quit. The assistant manager over soft lines came and asked me if I was interested in the position on Oct. 5. She implied that there were other people in the running. I had to talk it over with hubby and we decided yeah, I was interested. We were under the assumption that we would have time to change our minds. By the time I went home on Oct. 6, the paperwork had been completed and I am going to third shift on Oct. 20. Holy Crap! So, hubby isn't thrilled, but he's dealing. Squishy doesn't understand. My co-workers... some are happy for me making more money than I currently am making, some are pissed that I'm leaving the department when I've 'finally started getting good.' Most of them keep asking me, "So, who's going to take your place?" Honestly... not my freaking problem!!!!!
So, now I am trying to adjust my sleeping patterns to third shift. Hubby got mad at me last night because I didn't come to bed until 2:45am. Later, after we got Squishy on the bus and we were on our walk, I explained to him what I was doing. He said, "Duh, if I would have thought about it, that would have made sense." Duh!!! Tonight, I have to go to sleep earlier because I have to work at noon. I can't wait until I go to thirds. Then hubby can get off my back.

Well, I had a fairly decent birthday today. Squishy made me a card and a 'necklace'. Hubby let me sleep for a while after we got the kid off to school. We went over to Mom and Dad's for dinner (steak, potatoes, peas and cake!) and they gave me a dozen roses (Dad works at a flower shop). Later, I will get a new pair of New Balance tennis shoes for. My old pair are falling apart. I also didn't have to work today. *grin*

No, not pictures or anything, my actual thumb. I buggered it up good last night. Hubby had a seizure and his hand was on my knee. He gripped hard and I, instinctively, grabbed his hand off my knee and he wrenched my thumb back. It isn't broken, just sprained. Hurts like a bitch though!

Wouldn't you know it, my weird kid has a two-hour delay today (that has been scheduled for a long time) and the only day she actually gets up by herself, at the NORMAL TIME is today!!!! Weird!!!

I really buggered up my left index finger. I was at work yesterday and tore up my finger. I have about a quarter inch square that is missing skin on the pad of my finger. I worked 10am - 7pm and did it around 11:15. Jill, my assistant manager saw me heading to the bathroom, hand in a fist around a tissue, to clean it out and bandage it. Naturally, I then had to go fill out an 'incident report'. Just in case the damned thing gets infected and I have to have it chopped off or something. Hurts.

What's worse is that I KNOW these people. Luckily, we dropped them like a hot potato! They were weird and the husband, we heard, was trying to find a way to divorce his wife so he could marry his girlfriend (who is pregnant with his kid and LIVES WITH THEM!!).
How could someone sell their kid? And she was going to sell the kid for $1,000. Someone could offer me more money than Bill Gates has and I'd instantly say NO!!!

People are juvenile. Someone called today and tried to get Pat H. to page Mike Hunt over the PA. Luckily, I was near and was able to stop her. Last thing we needed was to hear "Attention customers, My Cunt has a call at the service desk." I'm such a good person. *grin*

Pat W. called in today. She's going to end up getting fired. Virginia also called in (she had something else she had to do and never takes time off, so I'm OK with that), so there wasn't anyone for the fitting room after 4PM when Mary Lou left. So, Becky and Judy had to split it. Judy had to have been pissed!
They scheduled me 5 1/2 hours today. I got done at 12:30. I had to give Mary Lou her lunch at 11-noon, then go give the door greeter lunch from noon-12:30. Becky wanted for me to do all of it, but I couldn't. That would have taken me over my scheduled hours. Somehow, I have gotten on Becky's bad side.
I'm still waiting to hear about the accounting job, but Dave S. didn't work yesterday or today. I haven't even bothered to tell Mom about the interview. If I don't get the job, she'll pester me and guilt trip me for a long time!
I work tomorrow. Hopefully Dave will be there and will let me know about the job.
